Do you know what causes dreams?
I'm sure you have more or less a sketchy idea of it, but here's a general explanation.
There are two kinds of sleep, REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep and non-REM sleep - the two repeated intervals during the sleep cycle.
During REM, when the body's asleep but the brain is still active, that's when we have dreams.
The only thing that virtually shuts down is your logic center.
The people who dream are likely to be same people who daydream all the time and those who indulge in deep thoughts to themselves.
This is actually something I read up on the net before.
Put in a more lucid way, basically it means that your brain is still working even when you're asleep.
What happens in your dream is what your conscience wills it to.
Not all people dream.
Some get through an entire week without even dreaming once.
And some (like myself) dream EVERY-SINGLE-NIGHT.
I don't really suppose it's a bad thing but to the maximum extent of my honesty, yes it's true.
So, you might ponder - Why am I here rambling on and on about these scientific exploits at 5a.m. in the morning?
That's because I just had one hell of a nightmare and seeing as how I still have an hour before I head out to school, I thought I might as well kill some time to talk about it.
For some unexplainable reason, I get nightmares almost all the time; say, seven out of ten
dreams?
I have no idea of what could've invoked them, since I don't recall indulging in thoughts of such nature when I'm awake.
I actually dreamt that I was in some sort of 'Manhunt' asylum, where everyone and anyone is out to sick a blade in my throat.
I don't exactly remember the details (normally you don't when your head's all groggy - you tend to forget most of what happened when you awaken), but the last thing I remembered was a raving lunatic impaling me with a crowbar, relentlessly tearing away at my flesh.
There have been a number of occasions where I dream of myself getting assaulted by someone for some unknown cause and I find it rather perturbing that I never fight back.
I mean in reality, I'm positive if someone attempted to sick me with a crowbar I'd clobber the crap out of him...
